A Star Trek 25th anniversary pinball machine from the collection of Leonard Nimoy. Manufactured by Data East to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the original 1966 Star Trek television series, the pinball machine was produced from October 1991 to January 1992 and limited to only 4,400 units.
It features colorful illustrations depicting imagery from the iconic series throughout the cabinet, backbox, backglass, and playfield. In addition to the machine's exciting lights and sounds, the Star Trek pinball machine features a unique transporter effect created by mechanisms inside the backbox. The machine is powered on and off via a switch hidden under the front-right corner of the cabinet. A paper manual, specific to the Star Trek pinball machine, is also included. The lot is in good overall condition with some wear from age and handling, including adhesive residue on the frame around the backglass, light scuffing on the cabinet, and creasing to the cover of the manual.
This asset is an original licensed product made available by the Nimoy family to support the UCLA Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Diseases (COPD) Research Program under Dr. John Belperio. COPD is a chronic inflammatory lung disease that causes obstructed airflow from the lungs. Dr. Belperio's research focuses on early COPD diagnosis and the preservation of lung function of COPD patients. The Nimoy family has been funding Dr. Belperio's COPD research since Leonard Nimoy's death in 2015. All proceeds of this rare pinball machine will be donated to the UCLA Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Diseases (COPD) Research Program in memory of Leonard Nimoy.
