A script from the production of David Lean’s 1962 historical drama Lawrence of Arabia. Sent to Arabia during the First World War to carry out attacks against the Ottomans, British officer T.E. Lawrence (Peter O’Toole) is given the task of assessing Prince Faisal’s (Alec Guinness) Arabian uprising against the Ottoman Empire. The film follows Lawrence’s daring and harrowing exploits in the Arabian desert as he loses his humanity in the throes of war.
Bound by three metal split pins, this script features a turquoise coloured card cover with a cut-out window displaying the text on the first page titled “Lawrence of Arabia, Part One”. The document consists of 317 pages, printed single-sided on white and yellow US Letter paper. A handwritten note runs along the top of the page labelled “T1” and the film was presented in two parts and even included an intermission, which is clearly stated on page 143.
The script displays signs of wear from production use, including creasing on the card cover, marks, minor discolouration due to age, some minor wear around the page edges and corrosion is present on the metal pins.
Materials: Card, Paper, Ferrous Metals.
