Nathan Algren's (Tom Cruise) Medal of Honor with production-made book from Edward Zwick's The Last Samurai. Algren's medal was clipped to his Army uniform when he packed it into his luggage. While unseen in the film's final cut, an early script draft had Omura commenting that Algren was an author, having written and published "Battle in the West: Tactics for an Unconventional War."
Originating from the personal collection of renowned weapons expert and prop master Mike Papac, this vintage-style Army Medal of Honor features a bronze-color metal star with an eagle, a red, white, and blue ribbon, and a shield pin clip. It comes in a WM Wilson & Son box with a purple velveteen interior. Included is a hardbound book with a production-made cloth cover with the title painted along the spine in gold-color. The lot exhibits scuffing, discoloration, and faded paint and chipped paint. Dimensions: (largest) 8" x 5.5" x 1" (20.5 cm x 14 cm x 2.5 cm)
Estimate: $2,000 - 4,000
Mike Papac is among Hollywood's most respected armourers. Active in the film industry since the late 1970s, he served as weapons specialist on action classics including Lethal Weapon and Die Hard, and as property gun master for Predator - all within an 18-month span. By the early 1990s, Papac had become a trusted resource for leading directors such as Tony Scott, Renny Harlin, and Richard Donner, collaborating throughout the decade with stars including Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger. His career has encompassed work as prop master and armourer on some of cinema's most successful franchises, from Iron Man and Man of Steel to acclaimed action comedies like Three Kings and Red. Original hero pieces from the Die Hard films are exceptionally rare, and Propstore is proud to present these examples from Mike Papac's personal collection - offered to the public for the first time.
