Joe Hallenbeck's (Bruce Willis) Breitling J Class watch and wedding ring from Tony Scott's The Last Boy Scout. Despite catching his wife Sarah (Chelsea Field) "in flagrante delicto" with his best friend, Mike Matthews (Bruce McGill), disgraced private investigator Hallenbeck wore his watch and ring while investigating Mike's murder.
Originating from the personal collection of prop master and weapons specialist Mike Papac, this lot consists of an authentic, water-resistant vintage Breitling J Class Quartz wristwatch and a gold-color ring. The watch features a glass (crystal) cover with three crowns on the right side and depth markings up to 100m around its circumference and a slim leather band. While films often use replicas of high-end watches, this is a genuine Breitling watch. Due to a dead battery, its hour and minute hands are stopped at 11:27. The watch exhibits sweat stains on the interior band from production wear, while the ring exhibits rusting from age.
Contains electronic and mechanical components; see notice in the Buyer's Guide.
Estimate: $2,500 - 5,000
Mike Papac is among Hollywood’s most respected armourers. Active in the film industry since the late 1970s, he served as weapons specialist on action classics including Lethal Weapon and Die Hard, and as property gun master for Predator - all within an 18-month span. By the early 1990s, Papac had become a trusted resource for leading directors such as Tony Scott, Renny Harlin, and Richard Donner, collaborating throughout the decade with stars including Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger. His career has encompassed work as prop master and armourer on some of cinema’s most successful franchises, from Iron Man and Man of Steel to acclaimed action comedies like Three Kings and Red. Original hero pieces from the Die Hard films are exceptionally rare, and Propstore is proud to present these examples from Mike Papac’s personal collection - offered to the public for the first time.
