Original final British Quad artwork by Brian Bysouth for Richard Donner's fantasy adventure Ladyhawke. This lot comes from the personal collection of Brian Bysouth. Set in medieval Europe, the film tells the story of two cursed lovers-one who becomes a wolf by night and the other a hawk by day-who seek to break the spell that keeps them forever apart; it is fondly remembered for its romantic narrative, distinctive visual style, and performances from Matthew Broderick, Rutger Hauer, and Michelle Pfeiffer. The artwork is painted in gouache on an illustration board, with select cut-out lettering elements-namely the title and tagline-affixed to the main composition. The piece is also accompanied by two protective paper layers, one translucent, the other opaque. Two prints are included: one of the artworks shown here (without the lettering), and the other a black-and-white print of the final quad design, which incorporated much of the artwork's central image. Bysouth has signed both prints in silver-coloured ink. Sold without copyright; see copyright notice in the Terms and Conditions.

The protective paper layers are not firmly adhered to the board and exhibit tears.
