A scute from a stop-motion stegosaurus from Merian C. Cooper's and Ernest B. Schoedsack's King Kong. Deep in the island jungle, Jack Driscoll (Bruce Cabot) and his men were charged by a stegosaurus with a spiked tail and scutes along its spine.

Designed for the film by model maker Marcel Delgado, who developed the skeletal armatures that would revolutionise stop-motion animation, this scute is a fin-shaped plate made out of wood with a brown painted finish with dark striping as well as a buildup of black and red material on the base where it would have previously attached to the stop-motion puppet. A small question mark is hand-written on the base. It exhibits wear from use and age, including chipping throughout the finish. Dimensions: 8.5 cm x 7.75 cm x 1.5 cm (3.25" x 3" x 0.5")
