A suit of armour worn in the historical drama King Arthur. A retelling of Arthurian legend, the story charts the life and travails of Arturius Castus (Clive Owen) – the legendary King Arthur – commander of a brave band of warriors as they fight to protect the Britons left behind during the Roman withdrawal from Britannia against the rampaging Saxons.
Made by the legendary armourer Terry English, this hero suit of armour was worn by Arturius as he heads off on his final mission prior to his retirement from the Roman army, fighting the Saxons every step of the way as they continued their march south. The suit of armour is composed of a white undershirt and thick dark green tunic, attached to which is metal and rubber chainmail covering the arms, torso and below the waist. A set of body armour is worn on top composed of metal chest, back and shoulder plates, all of which is covered in leather, with a leather skirt hanging below, all of which has metal detailing and hardware. A pair of bracers and grieves, also made of metal with leather covering and metal fixings, a green neckerchief and a flowing maroon cape complete the set.
The armour is lined at the knees, with foam present to ensure a good fit and comfort while being worn on set, while the left grieve is marked with English's trademark "T" crest. The costume is marked internally on the grieves and bracers, which are of hero construction but marked as stunt pieces, with Clive Owen's name marked in the bracers. Made bespoke for Clive Owen in the role of Arturius, there is no sizing information present.
A fantastic and impressive set in very good production-used condition, the costume comes displayed on a custom-made display with a light-up display base featuring the film’s logo. The display measures 185cm (73”) tall.
