A screen-matched Chubby Klown mask from Stephen Chiodo's Killer Klowns from Outer Space. Chubby and his fellow extraterrestrial Klowns descended on the town of Crescent Cove, California to harvest the locals' blood. Chubby helped capture victims alongside Rudy, Bibbo, and Shorty. Additionally, he was the only Klown shown to feast on a cocoon. This mask screen-matches based on the paint mottling near the chin when Chubby drank from the cocoon using a funky straw.
Produced by director Stephen Chiodo with his brothers, Charles and Edward, all experts in special effects, this cult classic horror-comedy film was celebrated for its groundbreaking practical effects, most famously the animatronic costumes that brought the Klowns to life on screen.
This foam latex head mask display was purchased directly from the Chiodos and features a self-fastening strip closure at the back that allowed it to be worked by a performer. This head was hand-painted with clown makeup and features acrylic eyes and distorted, fearsome teeth. It has pink synthetic hair attached to the head. It has been permanently mounted to a black display base, and the interior includes mechanical cabling that originally enabled limited movement while the mask was worn. Following production, these cables were cut. This lot exhibits discoloration due to age and aged foam latex that remains stiff and brittle that should be handled with caution. Additionally, the head exhibits surface cracking. Dimensions: 14" x 14" x 18.5" (35.5 cm x 35.5 cm x 47 cm)
Contains mechanical components; see notice in the Buyer's Guide.
Estimate: $20,000 - 40,000
