A Balem guard mask from the production of the Wachowski’s 2015 adventure sci-fi film Jupiter Ascending.

A young woman discovers her destiny as an heiress of intergalactic nobility and must fight to protect the inhabitants of Earth from an ancient and destructive industry.

This style of mask was worn by one of the guards escorting Balem Abrasax (Eddie Redmayne), the head of the Abrasax house. Made of silicone, the mask features ornate detailing to replicate the look of electronic devices and is finished in red, faux-silver and brass paint, giving the piece a fantastic sci-fi/steampunk look. Holes in the eyes, nose and ears allowed the performers to see, hear and breathe, with the eyes covered in black mesh.

Displaying some wear from use, the mask remains in overall very good condition.
