A hero Lawgiver pistol used in the production of the sci-fi action movie Judge Dredd. Framed for the murder of a journalist, Judge John Dredd (Sylvester Stallone) is convicted to life in prison while his brother Rico (Armand Assante), presumed dead, takes control of the streets of Mega City One. Can Dredd reclaim his freedom, prove his innocence and save the city from the evil ex-Judge?
The Lawgiver pistol was the sidearm of choice for Dredd and the judges of Mega City One. A remarkable weapon capable of a variety of firing modes, each pistol obeyed voice commands and was only usable if your palm print was on file with the Hall of Justice, meaning that only a judge could hold and fire one. If you pick up a Lawgiver and are not a judge, expect a nasty surprise to follow!
This hero style of the iconic pistol was used for scenes in which live-firing versions of the pistol were necessary. The weapon is built around a Beretta 92FS pistol, the serial number of which is consistent with those used on the production, with the clamshell shroud components made of resin, rubber pistol grips, a turned aluminium barrel extension and a machined aluminium base on the magazine. Incredible detailing is present across the piece, with a vented sight post, ribbed housing and the Hall of Justice crest on the side. In place of working lights, coloured acrylic inserts have been added. The pistol is finished in black with silver leaf used for the trigger guard area. The pistol has been sympathetically deactivated, with the pistol retaining its working trigger and slide.
A fantastic piece from one of the 90’s biggest action films, this hero Lawgiver has seen plenty of action. There is some damage to the sight post while the rubber grips have shrunk with time. Minor paint wear is present across the weapon. However, the Lawgiver remains in good condition and is supplied with a certificate of deactivation. A prototype rubber pistol grip for the weapon, a metal Beretta magazine and a Double Whammy barrel, made from a microbinocular lens, are also included.
