A clapperboard from the production of the music video for John Lennon's 1980 song "I'm Losing You". Dean Karr directed the music video, which was released in 1998, 18 years after Lennon's passing.

The clapperboard comprises an acrylic slate and wooden sticks, hinged together by a metal binding and screws. Handwritten black marker remnants remain on the slate, including "Dean Karr" in the Director's section and a faded date. Dimensions: 29.25 cm x 23.5 cm x 3.75 cm (11.5" x 9.25" x 1.5")

Dean Karr recalls:

"This was simply a huge honour to create something original for the Lennon estate. Working closely with Yoko, I brought John's line drawing artwork to "life" through animation. Yoko made dinner for my Producer and I at the Dakota when we found ourselves in NYC shortly after finishing this music video."

Dean Karr received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Washington State University before moving to Los Angeles, where he attended Art Center College of Design, majoring in photography. His diverse portfolio spans both photography and directing with credits including Marilyn Manson's "Sweet Dreams" music video, album covers, movie posters, fashion shoots and live gigs. His striking style has led him to work with such artists as Ozzy Osbourne, Iron Maiden, Korn and Slipknot. He is also an avid cage diver and has shot many intimate images of great white sharks.
