A tape featuring mono mixes of 11 songs from the Jimi Hendrix Experience's debut album Are You Experienced. The record was released in May 1967 and is often regarded as one of the greatest albums in rock history. This lot comes from the collection of Patricia "Trixie" Sullivan, personal assistant to Mike Jeffery between 1966 and 1973.
These master recordings were likely mixed by sound engineer Eddie Kramer at Olympic Sound Studios and recorded by Dave Siddle at De Lane Lea Studios. The songs on the tape are "Foxy Lady", "Manic Depression", "Red House", "Can You See Me", "Love or Confusion", "I Don't Live Today", "May This Be Love", "Fire", "Third Stone From The Sun", "Remember" and "Are You Experienced?". This is the same track order as the final record.
The 1 cm width tape is presented on an Ampex 456 Grand Master tape metal reel featuring a "43" sticker. It comes with its original red card BASF box, which has an Olympic Studio Sounds titled paper sheet dated "25.4.67" taped onto the front. The sheet displays several handwritten annotations. The tape on the edges of the sheet has discoloured over time, and one strip has become unstuck. The box exhibits notable wear due to its age, notably on the inside. Dimensions (in box): 28 cm x 27.5 cm x 2 cm (11" x 10.75" x 0.75")
