Five of Ray Harryhausen's reference stills from the production of Don Chaffey's fantasy adventure Jason and the Argonauts. This lot comes from Harryhausen's personal collection.

This set comprises two black-and-white photographs and three printed illustrations by Harryhausen. The photos show the iconic skeleton scene and the Argonauts being chased by the statue of Talos; the illustrations depict an attack by Triton, Jason (Todd Armstrong) and Medea (Nancy Kovak) in the Underworld, and a meeting with Cerberus, the last of which did not appear in the final film. All of the stills have the film's title handwritten by Harryhausen on the back and three have additional handwritten notes. Dimensions (largest): 21.5 cm x 28 cm (8.5" x 11")

This lot comes from the Ray & Diana Harryhausen Foundation, a collection of items from the long and illustrious career of special effects and animation legend Ray Harryhausen. Proceeds from this auction will assist with the Foundation's future projects, including the ongoing preservation of Harryhausen's creature collection.
