This striking poster, originally printed for display in the New York subway system, has been professionally linen-backed and expertly restored. Restoration efforts included touch-ups on the folds and repair of a diagonal tear that extended downward between the two missiles. Areas with tears in the lower left corner were also addressed. The borders received some airbrushing, and further touch-ups were applied to the corners to fix small nicks, chips, and areas of paper loss. Additionally, sporadic airbrushing was done on the lower white field beneath the artwork box. The poster looks spectacular in person, and we cannot find another example of this particular style, which advertises the four New York theaters where the film premiered. For any Bond completist, this is a must-have item.
"You Only Live Twice" is the fifth James Bond film, directed by Lewis Gilbert with a screenplay by Roald Dahl, loosely based on Ian Fleming's novel. Largely abandoning the book's plot, it features an original story and massive volcano set visible from three miles away. The film was well received and grossed over $111 million worldwide-roughly $1 billion in 2024 dollars.
