Vintage Original B&W Single- and Double-Weight Glossy and Matte Photographs (8" x 10", 10" x 12") ; The Richard Schenkman Collection From the Personal Archive of Peter Hunt
Very Fine+; Photographed by George Whitear (8) and Stefano Archetti (1)
United Artists, 1969
From the personal collection of the film's director, Peter Hunt, this group of vintage original single- and double-weight glossy and matte photographs includes twenty 8" x 10" single- and double-weight glossy and matte photographs, which includes superb on-set production shots (including Peter Hunt directing), scene stills, and portraits, several of which were used for publicity purposes and have an acetate sheet with handwritten notations affixed to the fronts (there's a great image of star George Lazenby standing between producers Albert R. Broccoli and Harry Saltzman). Also included are eleven 10" x 12" double-weight matte photographs, the majority of which are on-set production photographs, of which eight were taken by photographer George Whitear (as stamped on the back), with one photograph taken by Stefano Archetti (as stamped). All photographs are in excellent condition, with only mild edge wear. This is a superb archive that documents the production of this classic Bond film which comes from director Peter Hunt's personal collection.
"On Her Majesty's Secret Service" is the sixth James Bond film and George Lazenby's sole outing as 007. Directed by Peter R. Hunt, Bond battles Blofeld, who plans to destroy global agriculture with brainwashed "angels of death," while falling in love with Contessa Teresa di Vicenzo (Diana Rigg). Filmed in Switzerland, England, and Portugal, it aimed for a faithful, realistic adaptation and is now considered one of the series' best, despite mixed initial reviews and moderate box-office success.
Estimate: $800 - 1,600
