After being betrayed during a mission in North Korea and eventually returning to MI6, James Bond (Pierce Brosnan) has to hunt down British entrepreneur Gustav Graves (Toby Stephens) before his solar weapon can be used on the Korean peninsula.
HE missiles were used in the ice palace car chase scene between Bond and Zao (Rick Yune). Zao stored a mortar launcher in the boot of his Jaguar and fired HE missiles at Bond’s Aston Martin from it. This missile shows the proposed design put forward by Icon Effects, Southampton. The missiles used on set have the same appearance, but were constructed from metal.
The prototype HE missile is made from moulded plastic and painted a dull, military-style green in colour. The letters ‘HE’ are stencilled three times onto the middle section in yellow paint. At the base are eight gold-coloured fins, grouped in pairs and each featuring an aerodynamic punched slot through the centre.
Despite some light marking and chipping and a bent fin, the item remains in good overall production-used condition.
