This lot will be auctioned on Saturday, November 5th. A unique collection of 35mm footage from the production and promotion of John Glen's Bond movie A View to a Kill. These film rolls and trims were used by film title designer Maurice Binder to create the movie's trailers and, most memorably, the opening title sequence. Binder designed the famous opening titles of 14 James Bond movies, beginning with Dr. No. He was also responsible for producing the iconic gun barrel sequence that has opened most Bond films to date.

The collection comprises 24 metal film cans with labels, reference tape strips and some note pages. It includes the final main title sequence, the gun barrel sequence for the trailer, title trims, unused title sections, various scenes from the film, unused FX shots and more. The collection was acquired on the closure of the storage facility for a UK distribution centre in 1998. Most of the celluloid remains in good condition, with a few rolls showing signs of age. Dimensions (largest can): 38 cm x 38 cm x 5 cm (15" x 15" x 2")
