A Grasshopper (Simon Callow) stand-in from Henry Selick's James and the Giant Peach. Stand-ins such as this one were used in place of the delicate stop-motion puppets during the set-up of shots, including as lighting references on the stop-motion stages.

This detailed stand-in is made of self-skinning urethane foam molded around an aluminum wire armature and hand-painted in green, blue, and tan, among other shades. It features a removable head with wire antennae and comes affixed to a wood base with another wire attached to the bottom of its abdomen for further support. This lot exhibits missing hands, exposed foam and wire, pitting in the foam, flaked paint, and discoloration on the head. Dimensions: 7" x 6" x 18" (18 cm x 15.25 cm x 45.75 cm)
