Louis' (Brad Pitt) Scythe seen in Neil Jordan's 1994 vampire horror film, Interview With The Vampire, based upon Anne Rice's best selling novel. In the film, the vampire Louis (Brad Pitt) tells his life long story of love, betrayal, loneliness, and hunger.
Louis uses his scythe to slay Armand's (Antonio Banderas) evil group of immortal vampires after they kill his beloved Claudia (Kirsten Dunst). Louis can be seen swinging his blade at numerous vampires after they awaken on fire from there crypts, that Louis himself set on fire for revenge. There were two versions of this scythe made for use in the film and can clearly be seen on screen, one with a smooth blade, and this version, which has a ridge at the top of the blade. Louis uses the version with a ridge at the top.
This piece features a long, angular wooden staff with various marks and dents from production use. At the lower part of the staff there is a small metal handle that is attached via a round metal ring, and at the top, a large curved black metal blade that is attached via a small metal bracket that allows the blade to swing open and closed. The blade has been dulled for use on set, and is no longer sharp. The handle that was originally on the bottom of the piece has been removed and is no longer present.
This incredible piece can be screen matched to the vampire killing scene via the ridge line on the top of the blade. Showing signs of wear from production use, this piece is in overall good condition.
