A quad optical printer mock-up components from Industrial Light & Magic (ILM). The "quad" was a brand new optical printer designed and built at ILM; it was the brainchild of Richard Edlund and was designed to composite more elements of film together, allowing for more complex VFX shots.

This lot consists of a mock-up optical printer from Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) made of 12 pieces of brown and green painted styrofoam. Pieces of styrofoam were adhered together to create the shape of the optical printer needed. This lot exhibits wear from age and chipping paint. Dimensions: (largest) 18.5" x 8" x 8" (47 cm x 20.5 cm x 20.5 cm); (smallest) 2" x 1.5" x 1.5" (5 cm x 4 cm x 4 cm)
