A Kit West-signed original production storyboard from Steven Spielberg’s 1981 action adventure film, Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark is the first instalment of the classic Indiana Jones franchise. Archaeologist Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) battles a group of Nazis searching for the Ark of the Covenant in an epic globe-trotting adventure which sees him tackling Nazis, a snake phobia and his vengeful ex-girlfriend.

This framed storyboard shows the establishing shot of Washington DC, with the Washington Monument in the background. It leads into the scene where Indiana Jones and his colleague Marcus Brody (Denholm Elliott) meet with Army Intelligence Officers who lie to them, saying that the Ark of the Covenant is safe and will be studied by ‘top men’.

This item is printed on a sheet of white paper, with a brief description under the image and is labelled as shot ‘X158’. It is dated 12.05.80. and has been signed by Kit West, the film’s Oscar®-winning effects supervisor. This storyboard is hole-punched at the top, indicating that it was part of a sequence, forming a comprehensive shot-by-shot outline of this movie’s iconic cinematography and ground-breaking special effects.
