The renowned movie poster artist Richard Amsel created the artwork for the film's original theatrical posters, resulting in an iconic image of Harrison Ford as "Indiana Jones." Many collectors feel that he surpassed himself with his artwork for the film's 1982 re-release, depicting Indiana cracking his famous bullwhip while surrounded by outstanding portraits of the other main characters. This 40 x 60 is a much rarer format, which is very prone to handling wear. However, this example, which is rolled, is in outstanding, unrestored condition and displays only mild edge wear and sporadic border creases.

When Steven Spielberg expressed interest in directing a James Bond film, George Lucas offered him "Raiders of the Lost Ark" instead. The action-packed adventure introduces Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones, a whip-wielding archaeologist, and is considered one of Spielberg's most successful and entertaining films.
