A prototype Chachapoyan fertility idol from Steven Spielberg's Raiders of the Lost Ark. Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) ventured deep into an ancient Chachapoyan temple to recover the fertility idol, setting off a number of deadly traps in the process.

The Chachapoyan temple sequence served as the opening for the first Indiana Jones film and audiences' introduction to the now-iconic character. The fertility idol, the central focus of that sequence, is one of the most instantly recognizable props in the Indiana Jones franchise. This version was created as a prototype, as it is consistent in its larger size and in the shape of its open (but not fully frowning) mouth with the idol seen onscreen, although it does not feature the vertical lines scribed into the hair and providing a smooth finish seen in the final cut. Many replicas of the idol exist, though all can be identified by their frowning mouth shapes and smaller sizes.

This plaster idol originates from Planet Hollywood. It is stylized with a large head and depicts a person grimacing while giving birth. It features a gold-color finish, which exhibits some chipping and paint loss from use and age, and has sympathetic restorations to the nose.
