177. Production-made D-138 Zeppelin Model Miniature

A production-mdae D-138 Zeppelin model miniature from Steven Spielberg's action-adventure sequel Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. After Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) and his father Henry Jones, Sr. (Sean Connery) managed to recover the Grail Diary, they attempted to escape Berlin on board the airship. Whilst the airship was grounded, the boarding process was halted by Ernst Vogel (Michael Byrne), who went aboard in search of the pair.
This small model was intended for long-distance shots but was ultimately unused. A larger model was also built for the film and ILM utilized that one for all of the shots requiring the zeppelin. It is made of vacuum-formed plastic, fitted around a lightweight wooden frame, with 12V lights fitted inside. It is painted silver, and features "D-138" printed on the underside. A blue wire protrudes from a hole on the underside of the model. The electronics have not been tested. The lot originated with ILM model maker Paul Kraus, and a letter of authenticity from Kraus accompanies the model. Dimensions: 13.5" x 2.75" x 2.5" (34.5 cm x 7 cm x 6.5 cm)
