A replica of Indiana Jones' (Harrison Ford) whip from an Entertainment Weekly cover shoot from the promotion of James Mangold's Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. For its 27 June 2023 digital cover shoot and interview with Harrison Ford actor about his long-celebrated adventurer role, Entertainment Weekly dressed the studio with an assortment of objects representing relics from Jones' many escapades. Replicas of Jones' hat and whip, the character's two most iconic accessories considered to be essential parts of the Indiana Jones mythos, were appropriately featured front and centre during the shoot.
The film series famously used whips from David Morgan's 450 series. During the production of Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Terry Jacka was commissioned to create additional whips to supplement the Morgan whips used on the film.
This woven brown leather bullwhip is a high-quality replica created by an unknown maker (not Morgan or Jacka) based on that classic 450 series. Acquired solely for the Entertainment Weekly shoot, it features a short-handled grip, a matching leather wrist loop, and a black nylon cracker. The whip is about 2.5 metres from the start of the handle through the end of the thong. The fall exhibits some wear to the leather, and the whip has somewhat stiffened in the rolled position.
