Every kid who sat down to the 1982 Incredible Hulk series saw this transformation before the story even started. The opening credits ran Bruce Banner through the change every single week, and here are three original production cels from that exact sequence, frame-numbered 10, 14 and 15 along the bottom edge to mark their position within it.

The face cel is the one to dwell on. The shading worked into Banner's features mid-change is far denser than anything the broadcast actually needed for a transformation that flickers past in seconds. The hair, in particular, has had real attention, every strand of it inked out rather than blocked in as a mass. This is an animator and ink-and-paint team putting in detail the running speed of the sequence would never let an audience register. That gap between the effort on the cel and the fleeting glimpse on screen is exactly what makes a piece like this rewarding to hold.

The second cel isolates the green hand driving into the earth, the moment Banner's body has stopped being his own. The third catches the arm bursting through the sleeve of his torn shirt, the wardrobe casualty that became one of the most familiar visual shorthand gags in the character's history.

All three are 1982 Marvel Productions originals, paired here with a printed presentation background and carrying their sequence frame numbers in pencil at the lower right.

Cels from a title sequence are a different proposition to cels from an episode, the same handful of drawings reused week after week, which makes survivors from the run genuinely scarce. An 'Incredible" collection indeed.
