Universal, 1934

While all the lobby cards in the set of eight each featured the lovely Claudette Colbert, this title card is the most fetching, and even better this is one autographed in fountain pen by none other than Ms. Colbert herself.

This title card has some edge wear, chipping in the lower right corner and along the lower border, plus a tiny chip off the upper left corner and slight nicks in the upper right. A reinforced tear on the center of the left border goes into the image, a couple of tiny stains, and a faint white x across the child's face. Claudette Colbert beautifully signs it on the lower border.

Based on the 1933 novel by Fannie Hurst, this drama stars Claudette Colbert as a widow who befriends and takes in a Black housekeeper (Louise Beavers) and her daughter. In 2007, Time magazine hailed it as being one of "The 25 Most Important Films on Race".
