This powerful advance one sheet from director Robert Wise's true crime drama features a photographic image of the real-life Barbara Graham, a convicted murderer and former prostitute, in her final moments before her execution in San Quentin's gas chamber in 1955. This example was professionally linen-backed with very mild touch-up to the folds to address general wear and light crossfold separation. The borders have sporadic airbrushing to correct two-hole punches spaced around the perimeter of the side borders only, along with corner wear, creases, and chips. This is a very striking poster from the film, which earned Susan Hayward a well-deserved Best Actress Academy Award.
Director Robert Wise took over the project after Don Mankiewicz completed the original script, insisting it be rewritten, though he later disputed Mankiewicz receiving co-credit. Barbara Graham's reportedly defiant line to a guard had to be toned down for 1958 audiences despite the scene's graphic content.
