A police duty belt used in the Will Smith sci-fi thriller I, Robot. Police Detective Del Spooner (Will Smith) is a cop in Chicago assigned the investigation of Dr Alfred Lanning (James Cromwell), who falls from a balcony under dubious circumstances. His investigation leads to the implication of the robot Sonny (Alan Tudyk), not realising the plot behind is death is far more deadly to the human race.
This duty belt set and others like it were used as part of the standard equipment carried by the members of the Chicago Police Department. Made of black nylon, the set is composed of a tactical belt with a plastic buckle, a formed holster made of black foam with a metal belt slip containing a resin static pistol, two magazine pouches filled with black foam blocks, an empty pepper spray pouch, a baton pouch with an unextended static prop police baton inside, and a handcuff pouch with a pair of prop steel handcuffs contained within. The cuffs are designed for quick release to prevent discomfort to actors who had to wear them, with an easily accessible latch on the cuffs' main body, though the chain was broken through use in the production.
Well used on the production with only minor overall wear and a small crack in the pistol's magazine section, the duty belt remains in a very good production-used condition, with the belt marked as being for waist size "40-44".
