A DSRV-1 Mystic submarine model miniature from the production of John McTiernan's The Hunt for Red October. Jack Ryan (Alec Baldwin) used the USS Dallas' deep-submergence rescue vehicle (DSRV) to board Red October. Model miniature submarines were filmed with motion control in a dry, smoky room to simulate underwater sequences.

This miniature submarine with a removable top hatch, designed by model maker David Merriman and fabricated by Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), is constructed of hand-painted fibreglass and styrene plastic components with hand-applied and stencilled decals reading "MYSTIC DSRV" and "Danger High Voltage." The hull features two lights installed on front, a smaller light on the bottom, an on/off switch concealed in the top, and holes on front and back for mounting to the larger submersible. Wiring is installed on the interior, though the battery source was removed after production, rendering the vessel nonfunctional. This submarine exhibits white staining, flaking text, and some loosening panels from production use and age. Dimensions: 45.75 cm x 9 cm x 15.25 cm (18" x 3.5" x 6")
