Prince Daemon Targaryen's (Matt Smith) screen-matched hero dragon-riding costume from the fantasy drama series House of the Dragon. Daemon wore his costume in "The Princess and the Queen", the sixth episode of Season One, while flying his dragon, Caraxes, in the service of Prince Reggio Haratis (Dean Nolan) in Pentos. The weathering of the piping on the chest of the sleeveless tunic, the way the unique pattern lays across the center of the tunic, and the unique hand-laid placement of the decorations, screen-match to a close-up shot before Daemon flies through an aerial fireball from Laena Velaryon's (Savannah Steyn) dragon, Vhagar, while entertaining Pentoshi aristocrats."If this costume seems a little flamboyant for someone like Daemon Targaryen, these were dragon-riding leathers that he had commissioned specifically for his period of service to Prince Reggio Haratis of Pentos while he lived there with his wife, Laena, and his daughters, Baela and Rhaena. Prince Reggio paid Daemon and Laena handsomely to guard Pentos with their dragons and insure his interests against the Triarchy, a dangerous alliance of three of his rival states in Essos. Daemon wanted something that spoke loudly to his Targaryen lineage so as to make his patron feel that he was getting his coin's worth. This costume does just that." - Ryan Condal, Executive Producer and Co-Creator
The costume comprises a long sleeveless tunic (labelled "Daemon Hero"); a black elasticated undershirt ("Daemon"); a pair of black pants ("2. Daemon Hero 2"); a pair of leather lace-up boots ("2. Daemon Hero 2" and "Hero 1 025070 MS 10 Matt Smith"); a leather belt ("2. Daemon"); and a pair of leather gloves ("2. Daemon"). The costume is ornately and intricately decorated with custom embroidery of the Targaryen sigil in the center of the back and metal adornments which resemble dragon scales around the back and shoulders. The sigil also lines the inside of the tunic.
This is the first time that a major piece from House of the Dragon has been made available publicly for auction. It is being offered to benefit the IATSE Relief Fund.
