One Sheet (27" x 41"); Style B, Stone Lithograph ;
Very Fine Folded
Paramount, 1932
Propstore is proud to present a first-time offering of the magnificent "Style B" one sheet from Horse Feathers, one of the Marx Brothers' most beloved films from their legendary tenure at Paramount Pictures. This stunning stone lithograph features a vibrant, striking color palette. The composition captures the brothers' quintessential chaos, depicting Chico, Harpo, and the incomparable Huxley University President Groucho as they vie for the affections of the enchanting Thelma Todd, while a skeptical Zeppo looks on. This artwork is a superb representation of Paramount's promotional style during this era, showcasing the comedic energy that made the Marx Brothers icons of the silver screen. Offered in its original, unbacked, unrestored folded state, this example remains remarkably clean. The paper is notably soft and supple, retaining a crisp white background and rich, lush colors with no signs of fading. As an unrestored piece, it shows signs of age and history consistent with its journey. Very slight fold wear, including tiny cross-fold separation and a light, repeated diagonal crease down the right border. Light border wear with minor creases and pinholes. Areas of light discoloration in each corner were caused by bleed-through from small pieces of archival hinging tape applied to the reverse. A true cornerstone for any advanced collection, this "Style B" one sheet is a significant rarity in the hobby. This is a unique opportunity to acquire a piece of cinematic history that continues to enchant audiences today.
For Marx Brothers aficionados, the five films that they released through Paramount - beginning with "The Cocoanuts" (1929) and ending with "Duck Soup" (1933) - represent their very best work. "Horse Feathers" was the fourth movie of that hallowed quintet.
