A screen-matched cable-controlled jester puppet from Joe Dante's fantasy horror The Hole. A jester puppet terrorised clown-phobic teenager Lucas Thompson (Nathan Gamble) throughout the film. Cable-controlled versions of the puppet were notably used when it came to life and attacked Lucas in the basement of his new home, where the titular hole was located. Distinctive cracks and markings on the face match the puppet to a close-up shot during the fight sequence.
The face, hands and feet are crafted from foam latex, and the puppet is dressed in a multi-coloured satin-like jester costume decorated with a gold-coloured rope trim. A small metal bell is attached to each point of its hat. The jester's face incorporates resin eyes and a set of teeth. Two external cables are connected to the puppet's armature, allowing the hands and fingers to be operated, while servo controls (currently non-functioning) are inside the head to power the movement of the eyes.
Presented on a custom acrylic display stand, the puppet shows production wear, including cracking to the foam latex (particularly on the hands) and minor rips in the costume. The tips of the feet are no longer present, potentially having been removed during filming. Dimensions (including cables): 48 cm x 51 cm x 70 cm (18.75" x 20" x 27.5")
