Connor MacLeod's (Christopher Lambert) trench coat from Russell Mulcahy's fantasy thriller Highlander. MacLeod wore a beige trench coat throughout his time in 1985 New York City, as he continued his battle against the other surviving immortals, including Iman Fasil (Peter Diamond) and The Kurgan (Clancy Brown).
The film's wardrobe was overseen by eminent costume designer James Acheson, who later went on to win three Academy Awards, for his work on Michael Hoffman's Restoration, Stephen Frears' Dangerous Liaisons and Bernardo Bertolucci's The Last Emperor.
MacLeod's trench coat was one of the standout costume pieces from Highlander, due to its sheer amount of screen time and crucial role in concealing his sword. This is one of three bespoke coats made for the character, and one of two used for filming. Queen bassist John Deacon subsequently wore the coat in the band's music video for their song "Princes of the Universe", which intercut images of Queen performing live with MacLeod fighting in the film.
The coat is made of lightweight nylon, which allowed for a billowing effect that added dramatic intensity to its appearance. The material was also preferable to a thicker, more cumbersome fabric when shooting fight scenes. The coat exhibits brown staining on its front.
