A special effects katana grip used in the production of the sci-fi action sequel Highlander: The Source. Searching for the source of everlasting power, Duncan MacLeod (Adrian Paul) and a band of Immortals head out in search of the seemingly mythical place, while a sinister Guardian (Cristian Solimeno) hunts them down one by one.
This SFX katana sword grip was used for the scene in which Duncan defended his friends as the Guardian attacked them on Holy Ground. Throwing the sword at the supernatural being, he impales it in the neck, only for the creature to extract the sword, using it to kill Watcher Joe Dawson (Jim Byrnes).

The grip of the famous sword, passed from Ramirez (Sean Connery) to Connor (Christopher Lambert) and on to Duncan throughout the series of films, is made from plastic which has been painted to replicate the appearance of ivory, with intricate detailing including the impressive dragon head at the end. The opposite end is painted bright green for visual effects purposes as the Guardian pulled the blade out of his neck, the green was used so the sword’s blade could be added with CGI in post-production.

The handle measures 40cm (15.75") long and remains in very good condition with only minor wear to the paint finish through use. It is presented in a stunning custom framed displaying featuring the film’s title artwork, stills from the production and an opening front panel allowing direct access to the piece.
