A Hellboy (Ron Perlman) VFX reference bust from Guillermo del Toro’s superhero action film Hellboy. Practical effects were used in combination with visual effects to complete the impressive visuals in the first installment of the Hellboy series. Phil Tippett’s effects company, Tippett Studio, is credited with the visual effects for the film. This bust was used as a reference for visual effects artists as they added animations to the film.

Constructed from biscuit foam and produced from a lifecast of Ron Perlman, painted foam latex appliances are applied to the chest, neck, back, and entire head. These appliances were made by renowned make-up artist Rick Baker and his Cinovation workshop. Two horns produced from vacuformed plastic are attached to the forehead and faux hair is attached to netting and pinned to the head of the bust. A black t-shirt is pinned to the bust and completes its look.

Showing signs of wear from use and age such as splits and drying on some areas of the foam latex appliances, this bust in overall good condition. 22” x 13 ½” x 23” (56 cm x 34.25 cm x 58.5 cm)
