Our expert's notes
A Hugh Crain fireplace head made for Jan de Bont's 1999 supernatural horror remake, The Haunting. This piece was made for the scene in which Eleanor (Lili Taylor) is haunted by Hugh Crain, whose stone visage pops out of the fireplace. Upon Dr. David Marrows (Liam Neeson) inspecting the fireplace it is revealed that a flue resembling a lion's head resides inside.
Crafted from fiberglass, this hollow head is painted in shades of grey, giving it the appearance of stone construction. This piece shows some wear due to production use and age with breaks to the fiberglass and chips to the paint, however it remains in overall good used condition.
