Harry Potter's (Daniel Radcliffe) Knight Bus and Leaky Cauldron costume from Alfonso Cuaron's Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Harry wore his costume when he began to assert his independence in a pivotal early sequence, inflating his Aunt Marge (Pam Ferris), fleeing the Dursley home, and boarding the Knight Bus en route to the Leaky Cauldron. These moments marked the start of a darker, more mature chapter in Harry's journey, as he began to reject the constraints of his childhood and step into his identity as a young adult.
The same style of jacket and pants appeared again later in the Time-Turner sequence alongside Hermione Granger (Emma Watson), reinforcing their visual and narrative connection to Harry's growing agency and self-determination. This costume's jacket is the signature style jacket worn throughout the Prisoner of Azkaban film and on the poster, heavily influencing Potter's non-school-uniform clothing style for the rest of the film series; the zippered jackets becoming a part of many of his outfits.
The Prisoner of Azkaban is widely regarded as the most artistically accomplished film in the Harry Potter franchise. Under the direction of Academy Award®-winner Alfonso Cuaron, the series took a decisive tonal shift away from the whimsical children's fantasy of the first two installments. Cuaron's installment introduced a more cinematic visual language and embraced a moodier, more emotionally complex sensibility that matured in tandem with the characters themselves. This tonal evolution is reflected in the costume design, which grounds the characters more firmly in a textured, realistic world.
The costume consists of a Topman cotton jacket (Size "M"), a UNIQLO cotton T-shirt (Size "S"), and a pair of FCUK cotton pants (Size "30") hand-marked "DAN" on the interior label in black ink. The costume was intentionally distressed by the production to reflect the narrative circumstances - featuring holes in the T-shirt and soiling on the jacket and pants.
