This is a stunt Simba head from the 1988 primatial drama Gorillas in the Mist: The Story of Dian Fossey. The film tells the story of Dian Fossey (Sigourney Weaver), a woman who infiltrates a band of gorillas—studying them, loving them, protecting them—before being murdered, presumably by poachers. One of the female gorillas was Simba. This is a stunt Simba head worn by an actor in the film for shots in which a real gorilla could not be used. The face, created by Rick Baker and his team of special make-up effects experts, is made of foam latex with incredible detail that really make it resemble a live gorilla; it features an entire head of hand-punched hair, and hard plastic eyes. Inside the head is a hard helmet and some padding, with a strap that kept the head on the actor's head. This amazing piece is in great condition, the foam latex is still soft. The head measures about 13" x 12" x 10" (33cm x 31cm x 25cm). The head stand is included.
