A scarecrow mask and hands made for the production of Rob Letterman's adaptation of the classic horror novel series Goosebumps. In the film, various creatures from the novels and television show made an appearance in the film.
The mask is constructed from foam latex which has been covered with burlap and straw. The burlap is weathered and is thin around the the eyes, giving the wearer sight. A rope is tied around the scarecrow's neck, adding to the spooky and authentic feel of the piece. The mask is marked on the interior for the performer it was made for.
Each hand is made from latex which is formed over a metal armature. A piece of PVC pipe makes up the core of each hand and handles are made by covering exposed portions of the pipe with rubber bicycle grips. The grips also have straps attached in order to keep the arms close to the performer when not in use. Faux branches and straw complete the look of the hands.
The piece is presented on a custom stand with a wood base, PVC pipe and styrofoam head. Showing slight signs of wear from use and storage, this piece is in overall great condition.
