A Fratelli cutlass from Richard Donner's The Goonies. Remarkably, forty years from release, this is still the only Fratelli cutlass from the production to come to market. When sold previously in 2016, it was believed to have been used only during rehearsals and in a deleted scene. Subsequent research through the 4k release of the film (2020) has clearly identified the sword style to match those used by the Fratelli brothers, Jake (Robert Davi) and Francis (Joe Pantoliano), as they bound the Goonies' hands and forced them to walk the plank. This particular sword was used during the rehearsal of a cut fight sequence in which Sloth (John Matuszak) comes to the rescue and fights Jake Fratelli.

The Goonies remains one of the most eminent American cult movies of the 1980s, and was chosen by the National Film Preservation Board for the National Film Registry in 2017. To this day, it is referenced and enjoyed across generations, particularly inspiring the hugely successful TV series Stranger Things. Many of the child actors cast in this classic went on to become stars in adulthood, such as Josh Brolin, Sean Astin and Ke Huy Quan.

The sword comprises a curved, dulled aluminium blade with a steel cupped guard and a tape-wrapped grip. The cutlass' guard exhibits rusting. Dimensions: 75.5 cm x 12 cm x 11 cm (29.75" x 4.75" x 4.25")
