This lot offers a beautiful French poster from the early reissue of the famous adaptation of the Margaret Mitchell best-seller. With magnificent artwork by Roger Soubie, this was the first instance of the image of Scarlett being carried through the flames of burning Atlanta. Artist Howard Terpning would create his rendition in the 1960s reissue.

This beautiful stone litho image has been conserved on linen with only the most minor touchup to fold lines and slight paper loss in cross folds.

This epic Civil War romance overcame serious production problems to win 10 Oscars (including Best Picture, Best Director for Victor Fleming, and Best Supporting Actress for Hattie McDaniel, the first African American to win an Academy Award) and become the highest-grossing film in history (adjusted for inflation).
