A kneeling ship figurehead test casting by Ray Harryhausen from the production of Gordon Hessler's fantasy adventure The Golden Voyage of Sinbad. The wooden siren figurehead on Sinbad's (John Phillip Law) ship was animated by Koura (Tom Baker) to steal Sinbad's map to the Fountain of Destiny. This lot comes from Harryhausen's personal collection.

Harryhausen created this model in 1972 as a test copy while he worked out the logistics of animating the sequence. It has a hard latex outer layer over a biscuit-foam core, and has been given a protective coating by the Archive to preserve it from light and the atmosphere. It has some minor discolouration and staining, and several of the fingers are missing. Dimensions: 26 cm x 9.5 cm x 21 cm (10.5" x 3.75" x 8.25")

This lot comes from the Ray & Diana Harryhausen Foundation, a collection of items from the long and illustrious career of special effects and animation legend Ray Harryhausen. Proceeds from this auction will assist with the Foundation's future projects, including the ongoing preservation of Harryhausen's creature collection.
