A set of college robes used in the fantasy film The Golden Compass. Based on the novel by Philip Pullman, the film tells the story of a fantastical world where a person's soul is tied to transforming animal companions known as daemons.
These robes and others like them were worn by professors at the Jordan College in the early scenes of the movie, particularly the scene in which the troublesome young Lyra Belacqua (Dakota Blue Richards) is found spitting pips from the roofs of the renowned college onto the professors, and when Lord Asriel (Daniel Craig) makes his presentation to the college.
The robe is made from a chocolate brown-coloured silk with dark brown velour trim around the cuffs and central opening. Matching buttons run down the front with a small red tie fastened at the neck with small metal press studs. Displaying some minor wear, the robes remain in very good condition, with no size marked.
