A hat worn by a Tartar guard in the fantasy film The Golden Compass. Based on the novel by Philip Pullman, the film tells the story of a fantastical world where a person's soul is tied to transforming animal companions known as daemons.
This hat and others like it were worn by the Tartars at the Battle of Bolvanger, in which the kids were rescued by a combined army of Gyptians and witches at the end of the film. The black faux-fur hat still has fake snow from filming on the top, with curly blond hair trailing at the rear to add to the look of the rough, brutish warriors. The piece is supplied with continuity photographs of the hat being worn on set and remains in worn but very good condition.
