Roman Soldier Infantry Shield

Stock #96367

“My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions and loyal servant to the TRUE emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next.”

A Roman soldier infantry shield from Ridley Scott’s 2000 historical drama film Gladiator.

A former Roman General sets out to exact vengeance against the corrupt emperor who murdered his family and sent him into slavery.

Infantry shields were held by Roman soldiers during the battle against the Germanic barbarians. The shield is wood layered with red canvas fabric with a metal trim, a wooden handle and a resin boss. The shield shows intentional distress from production use with significant staining and dirt marks. There are scratches and damage throughout from production use and its time spent in storage. The shield remains in an otherwise very good condition.
