Roman Infantry Costume

Stock #93263

”How dare you show your back to me! Slave, you will remove your helmet and tell me your name.”

A Roman infantry costume from Ridley Scott's Oscar®-winning action epic Gladiator.

The Roman legionaries fought alongside their general, Maximus (Russell Crowe), on the fields of Germania as they fought to the region's Germanic tribes, ultimately standing victorious on the field of battle.

The costume is composed a set of vinyl 'lorica segmentata' (segmented cuirass) body armour, red woollen trousers and tunic, a pair of worn leather boots, a leather skirt featuring plastic armour plating, a pair of plastic greaves and bracers, and a fibreglass helmet with plastic cheek plates. The armour and helmet are finished in metallic steel-coloured paint with leather straps to secure it in place. A red wool cloak completes the costume.

The armour has scuffs and scratches from use, with mud still present on the boots from the Germania battle sequences. Inside each production-worn greave is handwritten ‘KZYM dbl’. The cloak, trousers and tunic have been distressed for their appearance in the production, displaying worn, frayed areas and patches of soiling – however, each item remains in overall very good condition. Heavily distressed for a well-used and battle-scarred look, the boots exhibit considerable scratching and wear but remain in a good production-used condition. The ensemble makes for an exciting and memorable collector’s piece from this beloved film.
