A Washington Square ghost stop-motion puppet from Ivan Reitman’s creepy comedy sequel Ghostbusters 2. Several ghastly happenings appeared in a montage in the film including a large ghost terrorizing patrons at Washington Square. Phil Tippett was asked to do the puppet late in the film’s production. Due to time constraints, he built the puppet using a pre-existing armature and completed the shot in a single take. He asked not to be credited in the film since he only did a single shot.

The puppet’s body is made of foam latex and is detailed with sharp resin teeth, red urethane eyes and eerie purple and green paint. The Puppet is presented in a clear acrylic case mounted to a clear acrylic rod with a particle wood base finished with black paint. The puppet’s back and arms have been cut open and the original armature removed.

The puppet shows some wear including cracked paint, dry foam around exposed edges and tearing to the foam inside the mouth. Noting the aforementioned wear, the puppet remains in fair condition. Dimensions (in case): 16” x 16” x 25 ½” (40.5 cm x 64.75 cm)
