This is a full-size Terror Dog gargoyle head from the 1984 supernatural comedy Ghostbusters. The Terror Dog bust can be seen atop the Gozer Temple in the film, believed to be the one seen on the left side of the screen (see reference photos) and was also utilized by BOSS Films as a template of reference for the construction of the full-size detailed puppet.
The original set of gargoyles were carved out of hard foam by hand and detailed to resemble being made from stone, which is the reason the two are slightly different in the film. This piece is believed to be the sole surviving gargoyle from the original set and due to production use and years of storage, the item displays areas of chipped foam throughout, including several missing foam horns down the neck, as well as the foam ears and teeth (see photos), leaving the piece in somewhat poor condition. This amazing collectors piece measures approximately 43” x 31” (109cm x 79cm) and would be a great restoration project for any Ghostbusters fan.
