William "Bill the Butcher" Cutting's (Daniel Day-Lewis) hero top hat from Martin Scorsese's period crime drama Gangs of New York. The leader of the Natives gang wore his signature brown top hat for much of the movie after the prologue set in 1846. This included during his public murder of Walter "Monk" McGinn (Brendan Gleeson), which fuelled the climactic gang battle.

This dark brown felt stovepipe hat features a brown ribbon hatband with a similar trim around its curved brim and a black leather sweatband. A Stamigna Bazar maker's label on the inside of the sweatband has "Daniel Day Lewis" handwritten on it in black ink. A long strip of tape is stuck to the interior with the actor's name, character name, several scene numbers and the word "Hero", all handwritten in black ink. The scene numbers suggest this hat was worn extensively throughout the production. The tape strip exhibits minor discolouration and has begun lifting in places.
